Are you feeling leaky? Is your vagina feeling heavy, uncomfortable or vulnerable? Have you got some prolapse feelings after birth? Something in the SRC Support Garment range of shorts & leggings could be your new BF.
Living with Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) and or Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) can be disheartening.
For many mums, these conditions don’t just cause physical discomfort, they silently erode confidence, interrupt exercise routines, limit social engagement, and diminish their quality of life. The feeling of vaginal heaviness, the fear of leakage with a sneeze or a laugh, the uncertainty of movement, these are daily challenges that are often endured quietly and alone. All while trying to get to grips with motherhood.
Women’s health physiotherapists recommend SRC shorts or leggings for those who need to find discreet ways to manage a bladder or prolapse problem.
What are SRC Support Garments?
SRCs (as they are affectionately called) are cleverly designed shorts or leggings, worn over your underwear to give your pelvic floor and abdominals extra support.
Specially designed for women who feel vulnerable in this area after their vaginal or caesarean delivery. Especially when they try to be more active or get back to their hobbies and sport.
How the SRC Restore Garments help with Prolapse and Stress Incontinence
The SRC garments add an extra layer of support to your body from the outside. Special elastic areas provide external compression to the perineum, pelvis and lower abdomen to lift and protect your bladder and pelvic organs.
Support garments, like the SRC Restore Shorts, can also help reduce the sensation of heaviness and improve physical function by supporting your pelvic structures during movement, making daily life and exercise more comfortable.
We don’t believe in miserable mums.
Yes, pelvic floor exercises still matter. They remain the foundation of your long-term route back to a happy place. But we know they take time to yield results, and in the meantime, mums deserve effective support.
As a specialist pelvic health physio I recommend SRC Restore Support Garments to many of my new mums in clinic. They offer a non-invasive, comforting, and clinically backed solution as a super adjunct to treatment.
Designed for women with mild to moderate POP and SUI, the shorts (or leggings) provide gentle, targeted compression that not only helps alleviate symptoms but also helps women feel more secure and supported, both physically and emotionally.
This isn’t just about managing symptoms, it’s about reclaiming your freedom, restoring your confidence, and moving without fear. Whether you’re returning to exercise, chasing after little ones, or simply wanting to go about your day without worry, the SRC Restore Garments will help you feel strong from the inside out.
How do they work? By providing more support everywhere that matters…
The SRC garments are made of a specialist high quality stretch material. This is designed to create more lift and support for the perineum and abdominal wall. They will be your essential support muscles while you work on recovering yours (with your pelvic floor exercises!).
They are not just guess work or cosmetic. The SRC Restore Support Garments are a patented, evidence-based, medical-grade compression garment designed to provide continuous, targeted support to women experiencing symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence.
Available in mini short, knee length and legging styles, these versatile garments are suitable for use across all seasons and activity levels, ensuring that every mum can find a fit that meets her comfort and lifestyle needs.
Crafted with a unique triple-layer Gusset Support Panel, the garment provides even, sustained compression to the perineal area and pelvis, with the following therapeutic benefits:
- Support pelvic organs: The garment helps stabilise the pelvis, reducing the sensation of heaviness, pressure, and bulging commonly associated with uterine or bladder prolapse.
- Enhance pelvic floor muscle function: Gentle compression provides proprioceptive feedback, promoting improved pelvic floor activation and coordination, which is key to long-term rehabilitation.
- Reduce urinary leakage: By supporting the bladder neck and urethra, the garment may reduce the frequency and severity of stress urinary incontinence episodes, particularly during physical activity.
Would you benefit?
The SRC Restore Garments are suitable for mums with:
- Stress urinary incontinence
- Stage 1 or Stage 2 uterine or bladder prolapse
- during pregnancy
- after a vaginal or surgical (caesarean) delivery
The SRC shorts or leggings can be worn comfortably day and night, under clothing or as activewear. They are discreet, breathable, and do not restrict movement, making them ideal for daily use, travel, return to exercise, or post-caesarean support.
Styles: for every stage of motherhood
The mini short, knee length and leggings are intended as outerwear (knickers on underneath) – available in black or champagne colours.
The Over The Bump shorts and leggings give a graduated compression which supports your growing belly, improves circulation & helps ease back pain.
You can wear them after a Caesearean
The postpartum Recovery shorts & leggings have no seams, buttons or fastenings so they are suitable after a Caesarean section. They are made of a soft, breathable, anti-chafing fabric, designed to wear all day– even under your clothes. The patented Anatomical Support Panels offer a consistent gentle, constant compression that can reduce wound swelling, improve muscle activation, and ease fatigue—without limiting movement or comfort.
Sizing – do it properly – no guessing
You size yourself by measuring your waist and hip size. NB: Not guessing!! As they are medical garments they do not correlate to fashion clothing sizes. They are made in Australia which has different sizing systems to the UK. I hear all the time “I’m never a small” but you might well be for these.
And mums (!!) it’s really important that you have the right size for NOW. Not who you would like to be! They need to be tight to work well. But note that they don’t stretch with use or washing (another good thing about them).
There is a useful video guide to sizing here. I also have samples in clinic if you want to swing by our reception area to try before you buy.
Support Garments can be an essential part of your Childbirth Year Management Plan.
Integrating SRC pregnancy, postnatal or restore garments into your plan for recovering your pelvic health can be a game-changer.
Here’s how to make SRC Restore part of your holistic approach to management:
- Consult a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist
Start by seeking an assessment from a qualified women’s or pelvic health physiotherapist. Come to see us in our Cambridge Clinic or search for a specialist physio in the POGP Directory. They can accurately diagnose the type and severity of your condition, whether it’s prolapse, stress urinary incontinence, or both, and tailor a treatment plan that’s right for you. This may include manual therapy, guided pelvic floor retraining, bladder/bowel strategies, and education. They will have SRC garments available to try on. - Commit to Regular Pelvic Floor Exercises
Pelvic floor muscle training remains the gold standard in conservative treatment for both prolapse and incontinence. These exercises, when done correctly and
consistently, can strengthen the pelvic floor and improve support for the pelvic organs. If you are not getting on well by yourself then your physiotherapist may suggest tools such as muscle stimulation or biofeedback to ensure you’re activating the right muscles — something many mums unknowingly struggle with. - Use support garments consistently
The SRC Restore Shorts can be used ad hoc eg when you are exercising, going for a walk, taking children to school but they are designed for all-day wear if that’s what you need. In the early postnatal days you might benefit by wearing them all the time, even to sleep. You will not make your muscles lazy. Their graduated compression and anatomical support panels help stabilise the pelvis, reduce intra-abdominal pressure, and provide a feeling of security so that you can actually relax rather than accidentally over-grip your muscles and make yourself sore. Mums tell me they not only give symptom relief but with their shorts on they overcome the fear of worsening their symptoms and so have improved confidence in movement.
We support women to support themselves.
I firmly believe that self-care is not self-indulgence. Looking after our bodies after birth is essential. Exercise is fundamental to both physical & mental wellbeing. Fit mums enrich their own and their kids’ lives.
By incorporating an SRC Restore garment into your routine, alongside regular physiotherapy and movement-based rehabilitation, you’re not just managing symptoms, you’re actively investing in your comfort, confidence, and quality of life.
We live in a modern world. With amazing technological inventions to help us enjoy our sports & hobbies and care for our bodies. Mums deserve Good Kit.
